Festival of pain

Holy moly, I struggled through that race. A rash decision last night saw me insert gears and suspension to the Pegasus in the hope that I could stand on the podium. Alas this was not be. It was evident from the start of the first climb that I had no pace no legs and no chance against a quality field of National champs and representatives. It seems the tummybug that I had been struggling to shake had done nothing to assist my form. Well that and the sever lack of speed work to date. The peloton rode off into the distance while I woefully made my way up the long climb to summit road where I was hoping to find some solace in the technical singletrack. The race from this point had been decided for me and no positions changed hands. I had a blast carving the rocky single track and did manage to dial in some skills for the remaining race. It was obviously not my day today but I know next weekend there will be some pain laid down at the Hanmer Hammerhead. It is the start of a hopefully long and fun season and there is no need to start asking questions just yet. Time for a beer and an afternoon in the sun with the kiddies.

SSWC10 and Golden showers

What an extravaganza of goodness! All types of munters and maniacs. I went to this race with ambitions of domination. I had been training hard for it for well over a year. Solely single speeding, and much beer drinking. It turns out that all of this was in vain. Lady luck pissed all over me the moment the start hooter went off. The Russian roulette that was the start left me in about 800th place by the time I had even begun. My race was an exercise of crowd heckling, sculling beer and passing lots of people. I had resolved to finishing way off the pace and settled into a fun ride harassing as many people as possible. Slim took me back to his hotel room after the race and lubed me up with a box of beer. No idea how I made it home with my arse in one piece really. Especially with my Jane Fonda on roids costume. It was one of the best weekends I have had on and off a bike for as long as I can remember. I met some good people and heard some great stories. Now I start saving for Ireland next year. Fucked if I am gonna drink guinness though.

Losing my Virginity

So I am not sure how much this will hurt or even if I will enjoy it. I can tell you that i'm up for it. The first post is a hard one. I have plenty going on inside my head but as usual it gets a bit lost and blurred during the extraction preocess. I don't really care, this is a place for my ramblings and it's all mine. If you don't get it then thats cool. Stay tuned though as I account my nutty life filled with mayhem and bullshit. Most of the time I will be crapping on about how much I love to ride my bike and how I wish there was more time in the day, but occasionally I will spew forth things that you can relate to and things I will regret. Till next time, keep cool and stay safe.
